Welcome to waag.co.uk - home of the official disability access guide and accessibility award schemes for the Wokingham, Berkshire area

The accessibility guide is now under construction, and we expect to have it available to visitors in September/October of 2007, so add this page to your favourites and come back regularly to see how the site is changing.

WAAG is a Berkshire based community group designed to improve accessibility and provision for the disabled or parents with buggies in the shops, services and public attractions in the Wokingham Borough. WAAG is made up of a small group of private individuals who, because of their own needs or circumstances, have a common interest in the improvement of access for the population of the borough of Wokingham, Berkshire and sorrounding villages.

To see what we are doing to achieve this goal, and to help us make Wokingham a more accessible place for all, please visit our Awards page. You can tell us about the shops and services in your area that are making an effort to make their premises accessible for all. Just click on the link on the left.

WAAG also looks at other accessibility and community problems within the Wokingham area, including transport, footpaths, road crossings and other accessibility issues that you might find in a town or countryside. For instance, at the moment, we have a problem with A-boards and street furniture within Wokingham town centre and have started a petition on the 10 Downing Street website. This petition is calling for removal of all A-board and advertising obstructions from pavements across the UK. If you would like to support this petition then please visit the 10 Downing Street petitions.

We are also keen to hear from any council or community group who would like to set-up their own community site.
